First, the build up for the Latino’s guys power was pretty disappointing…he can yell really loud?  Really, that is his power?  I have people at where I work who take shits in the public restroom that are more intimidating.  Seriously, earlier today I thought somebody blew their colon through their asshole…not to mention the smell….it is like they are eating the assholes out of rotting donkey carcasses.

Back to Heroes….

I think it is interesting what I think the writers are trying to do.  The previous seasons it seemed like there was a clear distinction between who was good, bad and in between.  This season they seem to be blurring those line.  Sylar, good?  Peter, Hiro and Claire bad?  Parkman not a douche bag?  Let’s be real, Parkman will always be a douche, but I think blurring the lines with the other characters makes them more interesting.

JasonEley.net does a great analysis about the hero/ douche breakdown of the characters.

Yeah, i agree.  Sonic Scream == LAME.  But as redemption, they let Marlo go free and live another episode.  So here are my questions, favorite highlights of this episode:

- Double the Peter, double the fun.

- Sylar chewing out the local cops in his best backwoods sherrif voice.  Classic.

-  The whole “formula quest” story arc annoys me.  Speedy girl gets on my nerves, and is uniteresting. The Haitian gets foiled by a half-hearted blow to the head from Ando…  Seriously?  I've got bigger biceps than Ando (and that briefcase only had a slip of paper in it).  And finally, the dissappointment that is Hiro.  Can some one please explain why he can spend a lifetime in 1600's Japan, fighting entire Armies and training Kensei/Adam to be a leader–but has nary a hint of fighting skills or common sense to show for it?

- I can't wait to see what the angle on Dr. Zimmerman is.  Maybe he is the original creator of the “formula”.  So is there an Army of Nicki's running around now.  And how could they go this long without ever learning about each other, its not like the good doctor covered his trail that well.

- Where can I get some of that Shaman paste that lets me see the future.

  1. Parkman is always a douchebag. Always.
  2. WTF is up with Parkman's spirit journey? I have no interest in this story at all. “Well, you could have been part of a happy functional family (and even have a blond wife!) but now you can't. Sorry.”
  3. Hiro's storyline totally sucks right now too. It was so apropos for that annoying speedster person to call him Pikachu. That's all he's been reduced to, a two dimensional character that simply repeats phrases when squeezed. It's so bad, I actually find Ando more compelling.
  4. I totally want to see what Mom Petrelli can do. She's always been one of the most wicked people in the show to me, so I'm hoping that they really exploit that.
  5. Is any one else creeped out every time Claire and Peter are together? Maybe because he's her uncle in the show and in real life they're together?
  6. I must admit that I am not a big Nicki fan. I was glad when I thought her character dead. However, her new storyline could be good and I'm getting sucked back in.

A friend forwarded me something she found about the last episode of Heroes…apparently they cut abunch of stuff out to save money.  Iincluding what Jessies's real power was supposed to be.  The below is from the producers as posted on http://io9.com/5056841/heroes-avoids-credibility-grounded-by-budget

The first draft of the script, from a production standpoint, was very big. It had the bank robbery more-or- less as it currently exists. It also had a Claire/Meredith scene, which currently occurs in a cargo container. This scene originally took place in a deserted warehouse where Claire was surrounded by fire. The Hiro/Ando/Daphne scene, which currently occurs in a German movie theatre, originally took place on a train traveling through India, complete with Hiro and Ando on the roof of the train and Ando nearly falling out the side of a baggage car.

Personally, I loved the first draft of this script. It was a great, incredibly exciting read. I loved the way the bank robbery was written, and the idea that Sylar was to become HRG’s new partner blew my mind. The entire component parts were great – but, collectively, it was also, obviously, too big to be affordable. Beyond that though, the choices we producer’s faced of how to get the budget down became very subjective. The bank robbery was the obvious thing that had to stay because it drove the central story and the key recurring stories for the series– For me, the scripted moment where time freezes and future Peter appears was a key event (it sent a chill down my spine when I first read it.) So the Claire story and the Hiro story were what had to be attacked.

There were changes made to reduce budget in the bank scenes as well. Most noteably – at first Jesse’s power was Earthquake-stomp (Like Gorgon of the Inhumans from the Fantastic Four comics) But this power implied cracking floors and walls and all manner of damage that would be expensive to produce. At the last minute we changed him to a Sonic scream (like DC’s Black Canary) – this was easier to accomplish but was a bummer too us because we already had Echo from the online webisodes with sonic power – Oh well…

In case you haven't been there yet, this is one of the best ongoing Heroes threads out there: http://jasoneley.net/?p=191

it is unfortunate that they were forced to change some of those things out of budgetary concerns…sounds like that would have been pretty cool.

I didn't include this in this week's Hero or Douche, but Merideth…total Douche. It's like we are supposed to be impressed every time she has fire in her hand. Its almost as if each time she does that, there is this big setup, fire appears, and then she poses like “look at me…my hand is on fire and i dont feel a thing, you all should be impressed”. On top of all that she has replaced Maia for a week as the worst actress on the show.

So here's the thing…the fire in her hand is always puny…like I have chopped chili peppers and had more fire in my hand than that. Hell I have even chopped chili peppers, and then forgotten when I take a leak later and end up with more fire on my pecker that she has in her hand…she does not impress me. Now if she wipes her junk with that flaming hand…i will be impressed.
