The bailout went to the floor of the House yesterday because both sides felt they would have enough votes for the bill to squeak by. Right before the vote Nanci Pelosi gave this speech:

John Boehner, the Republican Minority Leader of the House has described this speech as the reason the bill didn’t pass. Specifically because Pelosi says that the Bush Administration’s and “some” Republicans economic philosophies contributed to the current economic situation. For more details CLICK HERE.

I can understand if you didn’t fundemtally support the bill and that is why you voted against it. However, voting against it because of the speech says you thought it was the right thing to do for the country but not for your party. Just insane….stick and stones…..

Personally I didn’t think the speech was that inflamatory, I’m interested in your thoughts.

I was irresponsible of that old hag to partisan a piece of legislation that will stop the bleeding. She couldn’t resist from making it a political point…many house republicans voted against the bill strictly to seperate themselve from what Pelosi describes as a Bush bill…there is an election in 6 weeks, legislators are scrambling for their jobs.

There are going to be protests and riots…the very fabric of our financial system is crumbling at the feet of 500 bufoons.

The stock market drop yesterday, albeit bad is merely an indicator of the troubles of this economy. If there is no credit available, companies are not going to be able to pay employees. There are hundreds of thousands of layoffs looming.

This has been the most irresponsible 8 years in US political history.

Anyone that has established credit can continue to use that credit. It is unfortunate that the US is such a debt driven economy, but the credit freeze is more impactful to companies and individuals trying to establish credit or expand their credit. Those with existing lines will pretty much be business as usual.

Actually the price everybody pays for credit will be going up. Being a credit driven economy isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. We wouldn’t be able to grown our economy in any serious way without credit.

Hopefully I will have the post on what might happen if the credit crisis isn’t resolved later tonight.

    Pelosi is a douche
(wait, can a female be a douche?)

Her little partisan bit right before voting had my eyes rolling straight off my face. That said, if you are willing to give up your convictions cause someone called you a name… you don’t deserve to be in public office. But I don’t think that is the real reason people voted against the bill. The congressmen voted against it, cause their constituents were screaming bloody murder. They are REPRESENTATIVES and need to act as such. You can’t vote one way, when 90% of the public wants you to vote the other.

Ok…Pelosi may be crazy but her politics were no more partisan than any comment any other republican made that day. In fact, I felt her comments were pretty tame and she should not be blamed for the bill not being passed…the republicans are so hypocritical. I do agree with Madame that the real reason the bill didnt pass was the constituencies of the respective congressmen were against it. I really don’t think there was enough education going on regarding the bill and how it would help the common man and not just the Wall Street fat cats. At least I can say now at 11pm on Wednesday that the bill has passed. Let’s see what they do with the money now….
